Run Flat and Self Sealing Tyres
Run Flat Tyres
At Longbridge Tyres were are able to supply and fit Run flat Tyres to the ever increasing amount of newer vehicles that are fitted original equipment with this tyre construction. Run Flat tyres have evolved a long way from when they were first seen mainstream on BMW vehicles but there main objective remains to provide the ability to run on the tyre un-inflated or with loss of pressure for around 50 miles at 50 mph. It is recommended to not mix run flat and non run flat tyres on the same vehicle.
Self Sealing Tyres
It is important to not mix up Self Sealing tyres with Run flat Tyres. A Self Sealing Tyre has the ability to withstand punctures with a gel lining constructed into the tyre but without the stereo typical negatives of running on run flat tyres. The main vehicles that use self sealing tyres are older Jaguars, VW's and Ford's. Most Self Sealing Tyres are recognizable by a nail symbol or a seal logo on the sidewall of the tyre. It is recommended to not mix self sealing and non self sealing tyres on the same vehicle.
